FIELD JOURNAL 12: New RRL Spring '25 Arrivals, 7 Ways to Shave Your Mustache, 25 Things to Get Fit for This Year, and More...
Style & Gear News, Outifts, & Inroads for the adventure-seeking man.
How are we all feeling going into the first weekend of 2025? I’m feeling recharged and motivated to get the ball rolling on the year, especially when it comes to writing here on Substack.
In the next couple of weeks, I’ll publish my first interview of this newsletter. I loved doing interviews at my last job, and I feel like there’s an opportunity here to show you a bunch of cool people in the men’s style and gear space that embody the LIVE A LITTLE lifestyle.

LIVE A LITTLE
In today’s FIELD JOURNAL, I’ve got a new jacket pickup, my most underrated gym bag, and my favorite new arrivals from Double RL Spring ‘25. Double RL is one of my top brands of all time, and their early spring releases have got me stoked for what’s to come for the rest of the season.
This issue’s OUTFIT is made for chill, coastal hangs, and features one of my favorite new sweaters from Outerknown. For INROADS, I’ve got a seriously stylish documentary to recommend, followed by a list of races and challenges to get fit for in 2025, then a guide on how to shape and style a mustache (because every guy has a type of mustache that best fits their face).

New Levi’s Type III Sherpa Jacket
In my FIELD JOURNAL 11, I talked about my trip to Family Center, the local farm store in my hometown in Missouri. I bought this Levi’s Type III Sherpa Jacket, along with my “America: We Grow Beer” hat I showed you all.

Here are some photos of me wearing the Levi’s jacket, drinking coffee and trying to look cool on my apartment patio. The jacket is super comfortable, and plenty warm when wearing over tee. I spent about $90 on it. Great product for the price.
Double RL Spring ‘25 Arrivals Loading…
A couple days ago, I saw the Double RL Instagram (@doubleRL) posting their new Spring ‘25 showroom preview. I noticed the two sweaters on the models next to the motorcycle. I went to the site to see if they were already live.

It turns out I found more than just the two sweaters. Above are my favorite Double RL New Arrivals that appear to come from Spring ‘25. My three favorites are probably the leather jacket, the faded hoodie, and the faded tee. Another standout in the New Arrivals that appears in the IG photo is this motorcycle cardigan.
A lot of Harley Davidson energy in these releases. Can’t wait to see more spring releases.
My Underrated Gym Bag
I connected with a friend I hadn’t spoken to in a long time this week. He’s crushing it in life, especially when it comes to career. My friend is a trilingual investigative accountant (English, Spanish, French) who travels to cool places for his work. Just this past fall, he went to South Africa and the Congo. In the summer, he went to Cartegena.
One of the questions he asked me in our convo was what type of gym bag I would recommend for him. When he’s at the office in downtown Kansas City, he’s usually going from the office directly to the gym.
My favorite gym bag is actually the Peak Design Travel Duffel ($140). It’s strong, waterproof, and sharp. I love how it doesn’t look like a gym bag, which was more important to me when I lived in New York, but still just as important now living in Austin.

It doesn’t have a shoe compartment, or a special pocket to hold your jacked up pre-workout. But, the interior does well at repelling odor and moisture. My only recommendation is to wipe down the interior with one of those Clorox wipes regularly. If you stay on top of keeping the interior clean, it can be used for other cases. Like a quick weekend trip.

I’ve never dabbled with RRL but the stuff looks awesome. The pricing seems off when I notice many of the garments are made in China. Is there any value prop there?
Wow, you must be rich. $140 gym bag?
